This is a 30 minute program that explores the magic and mystery of Western Australia's remote Pilbara Region. Through the untamed beauty of rugged gorges like Joffre, Knox, Kalamina, Dales and Weano in the Karijini National Park to the refreshing waters of tropical oases in Millstream Chichester National Park, this is a voyage into the heart of Nature. At Newman, see the incredible excavations at BHP's massive Mount Whaleback Mine.   Explore contrasting towns that have grown as a result of the mineral boom - Port Hedland with its magnificent harbour and Karratha the coastal gateway to the North West. We discover the Burrup Peninsula, it's secluded sandy beaches and site of ancient Aboriginal rock carvings. Experience eerie remnants of the Pilbara's most famous ghost town, Cossack, once a thriving base for pearl diving. We visit Australia's hottest town, the legendary Marble Bar and unravel the secret of its colourful origins in the Coongan River. We travel the Fortescue River to the picturesque Fortescue Falls, explore the Old Comet Gold Mine and we traverse peaks of the mighty Hamersley Range. The Pilbara is a spectacular land unchanged by time, a land truly of rustic images captured beautifully by Panorama Australia.

Fortescue River. A tranquil spot in WA's Pilbara. This river supplies the
 water for
Tom Price, hence swimming is not permitted. However there
are plenty of places for swimming in the area. Circular Pool is near by and
has also a great camping area.
